Returning to the Source of Ancient Hellenic Theatre
ABOUT IMALIS — OVERVIEW
Established by House of Neuse (NPO) in collaboration with the City of Epidauros, Imalis is a research and training center dedicated to the study of the performing arts in the Ancient Hellenic tradition. Located in immediate proximity to the twin ancient theaters and sacred healing centers of ancient Epidauros, Imalis offers in situ experiential practice and immersive research in the arts of the ancient stage.
Drawing artists and teachers from around the world, Imalis’ revival project is cultivating an in depth intercultural contact between ancient forms and contemporary performance practices, as well as living ethnic traditions from around the world.
Imalis is also a significant project in local development contributing to the improvement of the social and economic activities of the citizens of Epidauros.
Imalis is the only organization in Greece offering frameworks, facilities and services that cover the long unanswered needs of those who, drawn by the ancient theater and Greek civilization, wish to come to Epidauros to be exposed, and learn, and practice the ancient art of drama at its source with internationally recognized teachers in the arts.
